Impact of the A-Bomb

Home The a-bomb affected many peoples’ lives, including family members of those who have served on both sides. The Japanese felt the greatness of the power of the a-bombs, given how much property and how many people they destroyed. But, if the a-bombs hadn't been used, then more Americans would have died with the necessary land invasion that would have occurred without the use of the a-bombs, as well as the risk of the Japanese race being completely destroyed in the making. Americans and Japanese alike still remember the bombings and still debate whether or not the uses of the bombs were necessary, but in Truman’s opinion, they were definitely necessary, and history helps him prove it.
